EXHIBITION: Landscapes of the Soul / Paesaggi dell’anima

VENUE: Unix Gallery, New York City

DATES: 14–28 October 2026

OPENING: 14 October 2026

ART CURATOR: Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico

EXHIBITION DESIGN COORDINATOR: Paolo Calcari

Tiziano Calcari’s first solo exhibition in New York, Landscapes of the Soul, opened on 14 October at Unix Gallery, drawing a large crowd. Hundreds of visitors attended the opening, where they had the opportunity to meet the artist and discover a body of work that differed from the styles most familiar to the audience.

The paintings made a strong impression through their symbolic power and distinctive style, capturing visitors’ attention and offering new perspectives for reflection. The audience’s response demonstrated the ability of Calcari’s work to connect with viewers in a cultural context different from that of Italy.

The exhibition brings together around twenty paintings, most of them from the artist’s most recent body of work. It features the suspended figures of the Dolci Presenze series and explores two central themes in Calcari’s artistic vision: the redemptive role of art and the female figure, and the processing, through artistic creation, of grief passed down through three generations.

The artist’s impressions

When asked about his impressions of his first solo exhibition in New York, Tiziano Calcari said:

“Being in New York for my first solo exhibition is a very emotional experience. My impressions are very positive: I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand that my work appeals to the tastes and sensibilities of the American public. I’m very happy about this wonderful initiative and would like to thank the entire organising team and the curator who made it possible”.

The curator’s statement

Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico, curator of the exhibition, commented:

“When I decided to promote an exhibition of Tiziano Calcari’s work in New York, I had no doubt that his paintings would appeal to the tastes and aesthetic sensibilities of the American public. Art that helps people process grief passed down through three generations is a highly relevant theme in contemporary art discourse”.

The exhibition itinerary

Imaginary landscapes, female figures and forms suspended between reality and vision recreate the places of the artist’s personal memories. Painting transforms an intimate experience into a shared language, inviting reflection on human relationships, our connection with nature and the possibility of rediscovering a balance rooted in empathy and care.

The curator places Calcari’s work within the framework of Sustainable Art, understood as a process of personal transformation and a means of raising awareness. The exhibition’s encounter with the American public thus provides a new opportunity for dialogue on the themes of memory, loss and regeneration.

Tiziano Calcari

Tiziano Calcari was born in Brescia in 1969 and grew up in Irma, in the Upper Trompia Valley. In 1981, he produced his first oil painting and, from the 1990s onwards, he honed his painting technique under the guidance of the Paraguayan master Gil Alegre. Since 2008, he has been developing the Dolci Presenze cycle, characterised by human figures suspended between reality and imagination, which have become the hallmark of his artistic practice.

In 2023, Silvana Editoriale published the monograph The Artistic Experience of Tiziano Calcari: Creativity and Mourning in Sustainable Art, by Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico. In 2024, the artist exhibited at the Chamber of Deputies as part of SUSTART, and in 2025 he was the focus of a solo exhibition at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan during MILAN ARTWEEK.
